Terms & Privacy
Last updated October 28, 2026 · Free beta
Slab or Not is run by EmeraldCards LLC, a Washington company ("we," "us"). By using Slab or Not you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
What Slab or Not is, and isn't
- We estimate a card's likely grade range from your photos (centering, corners, edges, surface) and compare recent sales to tell you whether grading looks worth the cost.
- It's an opinion. Photos can't show everything a grader sees in hand, and graders don't always agree with each other. Your card may grade higher or lower than our estimate.
- Prices are recent sales we found, not appraisals. Markets change, and some cards have few sales. Fees, shipping and costs are estimates you can change.
- We are not affiliated with PSA, SGC, Beckett (BGS), CGC, TAG or any other grading company. Their names are used only to describe their grading scales.
- Nothing here is financial or investment advice. You're responsible for what you decide to grade, buy or sell.
The beta
- Slab or Not is in a free beta. Each account gets a limited number of free checks (currently 20), and the beta is limited to a set number of accounts.
- Things may change, break, or be paused while we improve them. We may end the beta or change limits at any time.
Your account
- You sign in with a code sent to your email. Use your own, regular email address, one account per person.
- Please don't: create extra accounts to get more free checks or credits, report grades you didn't receive, use bots or scripts, or try to break or copy the service.
- We may limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and remove credits earned that way.
- You must be at least 13 to use Slab or Not. If you're under 18, use it with a parent's or guardian's permission.
Credits
- During the beta you can earn credits by reporting the real grade of a card you checked, with the slab's cert number: 2 credits per report, up to 10.
- Earned credits stay pending until we check the cert, and become usable once paid checks start after the beta. Each slab can be reported once.
- Credits have no cash value, can't be sold or transferred, and may be removed if a report turns out to be false.
- When paid credits launch, any extra terms for buying them will be shown before you pay.
Your photos and reports
- Your photos stay yours. By uploading them, you let us store and use them to run your checks, show your history in My cards, and improve how accurately Slab or Not reads cards.
- We won't sell your photos or post them publicly in a way that identifies you without asking first.
- Only upload photos you took or have the right to use.
Privacy
What we collect
- Your email address (to sign you in) and your answer to "What brings you here?"
- Your card photos and each check's results (the card, estimated grade, centering, prices and verdict).
- Grade reports you send (grading company, grade, cert number).
- Basic usage: how many checks you've run, and technical logs needed to keep the service working and secure.
How we use it
To run your checks, keep your account and history, send sign-in codes, prevent abuse, and make Slab or Not more accurate. We don't show ads, we don't sell your personal information, and we don't use advertising trackers. Your browser stores your sign-in and a few settings (like your shipping costs) on your device.
Services that help us run Slab or Not
- Supabase: accounts and our database.
- Netlify: hosting the website and storing check records.
- Anthropic (Claude): reads your card photos to identify the card and its condition.
- Resend: sends sign-in emails.
- The Card API: provides sales data. We send it card details only, never your personal information.
These companies process data for us under their own terms and security practices, only to provide their service to us.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete your account and data, or to send you a copy of it, by emailing us at the address below. We keep data while your account is active and delete it within 30 days of a deletion request, except where we need to keep a record by law.
The legal part
- Slab or Not is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy of grade estimates, prices, card identification or measurements.
- To the extent the law allows, EmeraldCards LLC isn't liable for losses from decisions made using Slab or Not, including grading fees, shipping, or the price a card sells for. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (during the free beta, $0).
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts in King County, Washington.
- We may update these terms. If we make a significant change, we'll show a notice in the app or email you. Using Slab or Not after a change means you accept the new terms.
